Nikolai Fyodorovich Katanov
Nikolai Fedorovich Katanow ( Russian Николай Фёдорович Катанов , scientific transliteration. Nikolaj Fedorovic Katanov , often incorrectly Fedorovich / Fedorovič ; born May 6 . Jul / 18th May 1862 greg. In Askis , yeniseysk governorate , † March 10. 1922 in Kazan ) was a Russian ethnographer, linguist and Turkologist of sagaj- Turkish origin.
He taught at Kazan University . His travelogues provide, among other things, important contributions to the knowledge of shamanism . The Khakass State University in Abakan is named after him.
