Nikolai Schin

Nikolai Shin ( Николай Шин , 신순남 ; * 1928 in Dalnegorsk , Primorye , Soviet Union ; † August 18, 2006 in Tashkent ) was an Uzbek painter. He belonged to the Korean minority ( Korjo-Saram ).

In 1937 he and his family were deported to Central Asia .

In 1949 he completed his studies in fine arts in Tashkent. His work became known through the World Festival of Youth and Students in Moscow in 1957 .

Director Kim So-young talks about his life in the 2000 documentary Sky-Blue Hometown .
