Nikolai Stepulov
Nikolai Stepulov (born March 20, 1913 in Narva , † January 2, 1968 in Tallinn ) was an Estonian boxer (Olympic participant) and Soviet boxing coach.
Life and athletic performance
Nikolai Stepulov started his boxing career in 1927. He was the Estonian lightweight champion in 1933, 1934, 1935 and 1937. In 1936 he became Estonian middleweight champion.
At the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin , he won the silver medal in the lightweight (under 61.2 kg) at the age of 23. In the final he lost to the Hungarian boxer Imre Harangi .
The following year, Stepulov was second in the lightweight at the European Boxing Championships in Milan . From 1938 to 1940 Nikolai Stepulov worked as a professional boxer in various European countries. He was also active as a boxing trainer and organizer in Kiviõli and Kohtla-Järve . In the Volkshaus of Kohtla-Järve he organized exhibition fights, trained referees and held seminars.
