Nikolai Wassiljewitsch Gorelkin ( Russian: Николай Васильевич Горелкин ; * 1889 ; † unknown) was a Soviet ambassador .

Life

Nikolai Gorelkin was appointed ambassador to Italy on October 8, 1939. Benito Mussolini demanded that Victor Emanuel III in the letter of accreditation . to be designated as King of Italy and Albania . The diaries of Galeazzo Ciano report that Gorelkin was called to Moscow for consultations (possibly because of anti-Soviet demonstrations in front of the embassy) before the deadline for handing over the accreditation letter on December 9, 1939 . On June 22, 1941, Gorelkin accepted the declaration of war by fascist Italy on the Soviet Union.

Gorelkin attended the San Francisco Conference in 1945 .

In November 1948, Stalin had the legation in Montevideo upgraded to an embassy, ​​Gorelkin headed the embassy, ​​where around 50 people worked as embassy staff. In August 1952, Stalin had Gorelkin recalled from Montevideo.
