Nikolaos Sarganis ( Greek Νικόλαος Σαργκάνης , born January 15, 1954 in Rafina ) is a former Greek football player .

Nikolaos Sarganis, started his career with the Athens club Ilisiakos. After Sarganis initially acted as a defender , his then coach Christos Rimpas placed him in the position of goalkeeper after he discovered his extraordinary talent. In 1978 Sarganis moved to FC Kastoria and stayed there for two years. After Sarganis was able to win the Greek Club Cup with Kastoria in 1980 , the Greek players' watchers quickly noticed him. So it came about that he moved to Olympiacos in 1980 , where he won three championships (1981, 1982, 1983) and one more time (1981). 1985 Sarganis moved to Olympiacos arch-rival Panathinaikos Athens . At Panathinaikos, Sarganis finally had his most successful time and was able to win the Supercup in addition to three championships (1986, 1990, 1991) and four cup wins (1986, 1988, 1989, 1991) in 1988. Sarganis ended his career with the Athens club Athinaikos.

In addition to his career at club level, Nikolaos Sarganis was a permanent member of the Greek national team for years and made a total of 58 appearances. In addition to participating in the 1980 European Football Championship , the 1-0 away win against Denmark on October 15, 1980 in Copenhagen was one of the highlights of his career. Sarganis convinced in this game with an above-average performance and thwarted a multitude of opposing chances. The Danish press gave Sarganis the nickname Phantom , which stayed with him until the end of his career.
