Career

society

Spyropoulos, who plays on the left-back position, started his career with PAS Ioannina from Epirus . With PAS Spyropoulos experienced two relegations and one promotion to the Greek Super League between 2000 and 2004 . During this period, the player came to only 33 appearances in the second division. In 2004 Spyrolpoulos moved to the traditional Greek club Panionios Athens on a free transfer . At Panionios Spyropoulos managed to assert himself immediately and came to his first European Cup appearances in the UEFA Cup , so that the Greek top club Panathinaikos Athens noticed him.

In the summer of 2005, Panathinaikos signed Spyropoulos together with his teammates Evangelos Mantzios and Alexandros Tziolis . However, after the use of prohibited substances was proven at Spyropoulos, the association withdrew from the agreement and only took Mantzios and Tziolis under contract. Over the course of the following three seasons, Spyropoulos established himself more and more as a top performer of his club, played in the 2007/2008 season under coach Ewald Lienen again in the UEFA Cup and made the leap into the Greek national team under Otto Rehhagel . In January 2008, Spyropoulos moved after 68 first division appearances for Panionios with a two-and-a-half year delay for a transfer fee of two million euros to Panathinaikos - one of the highest ever paid for a player change within the Greek league. At Panathinaikos, Spyropoulos established himself as a regular player from the start and won the Greek Cup with the club in 2010 in addition to the championship. In January 2013 he moved to the Italian first division club AC Chievo Verona .

National team

Spyropoulos took part in the European Football Championship 2008 in Austria and Switzerland and was used in the last group game against Spain . In 2010 Spyropoulos took part in the World Cup in South Africa .
