Evangelos Mantzios ( Greek Ευάγγελος Μάντζιος ; born April 22, 1983 in Athens , Greece ) is a Greek football player .

Career

Evangelos Mantzios began his career in his native Athens with the amateur club Panionios Kallithea. In 2001 he moved to the traditional Greek club Panionios Athens , where he signed his first professional contract. At Panionios, Mantzios made the leap into the regular formation after only one season and knew how to convince despite his young age. At Panionios he came in the Greek championship on a total of 67 missions and 11 goals. After Mantzios scored three goals in four appearances in the 2004/2005 UEFA Cup , he finally moved to Panathinaikos Athens . Although Mantzios was initially only signed as a substitute player at Panathinaikos, he also managed to establish himself from the start and scored a goal in the 2-1 win in the UEFA Champions League against Werder Bremen . In January 2008, Mantzios moved on loan to Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt . There he made his debut on the 19th matchday against Arminia Bielefeld when he came on for Markus Weissenberger in the 68th minute. On March 29th, he scored his first Bundesliga goal against Bayer Leverkusen.

On December 31, 2009 Mantzios moved on loan to the Cypriot first division club Anorthosis Famagusta .

National team

Mantzios belongs to the young generation of players after winning Euro 2004 by Otto Rehhagel in the squad of the Greek national football team have been appointed.
