Nikolas Maes (born April 9, 1986 in Kortrijk ) is a Belgian road cyclist .
Career
Nikolas Maes won the Belgian individual time trial champion in the youth class in 2002 . In 2004 he won the overall ranking of the Ster van Zuid-Limburg, a stage in the Route de l'Avenir and he came third in the Ronde van Vlaanderen . The next year he won the Grote Prijs Joseph Bruyère and in 2006 he was successful at the Circuit du Hainaut. At the end of the 2006 season he drove as a stagiaire for Chocolade Jacques-Topsport Vlaanderen , where he received a professional contract for the following season. In 2009 Maes won a stage in the Burgos Tour . Since 2010 he has been driving for the Belgian ProTeam Quick Step . for which he achieved his greatest success to date in 2013 with the overall ranking of the two-day World Ports Classic stage race .
