The Nikolaus Cemetery ( Russian: Никольское кладбище / Nikolskoje kladbishche; scientific transliteration ; Nikol'skoe kladbišče ) is located behind the east choir of the cathedral of the Alexander Nevsky Monastery in Saint Petersburg ( Russia ). Its story begins in 1861. The cemetery was originally intended for clerics and monks of the Lavra , later also for lay people.
