Dieter Motzkus

Dieter Motzkus (born September 23, 1937 in Königsberg , Prussia , † March 6, 2016 in Göttingen ) was a German classical philologist , teacher and translator from modern Greek.

Motzkus studied classical philology, philosophy and education at the University of Hamburg . After completing his studies with the first state examination and doctorate, Motzkus initially worked as a research assistant at the Lexicon of Early Greek Epic . After his legal clerkship in Hamburg, he taught ancient languages ​​and ancient history in Göttingen and at the German schools abroad in Addis Ababa and Athens .

In addition to various didactic material for modern Greek and smaller contributions, Motzkus has primarily emerged as a translator of two modern Greek novels into German.
