Nikolaus Friedrich (musician)

Nikolaus Friedrich (* 1956 in Schwäbisch Gmünd ) is a German clarinetist .

Friedrich studied clarinet with Hermut Gießer and piano with Karl-Heinz Lautner at the music academies in Düsseldorf and Stuttgart. After graduating with honors, masterclasses with Thea King and Anthony Pay in England had a lasting impact on his development as a clarinetist.

Since 1984 he has been principal clarinet in the orchestra of the Mannheim National Theater . In addition to solo appearances, For example, at the Würzburg Mozart Festival and during the Berliner Festwochen , Nikolaus Friedrich plays chamber music .

His partners are u. a. the Nomos Quartet , the Trio Opus 8 , the Henschel Quartet , the Mandelring Quartet and, as a permanent duo partner, the pianist Thomas Palm .
