The Mandelring Quartet is a German string quartet from Neustadt an der Weinstrasse .
history
The Mandelring Quartet was founded in 1983 and today consists of the siblings Sebastian, Nanette and Bernhard Schmidt as well as their friend Andreas Willwohl.
They won major competitions such as the Premio Paolo Borciani and the Munich ARD competition and have since played concerts in many well-known concert halls all over the world. They undertake concert tours to, for example, Amsterdam, Brussels, London, Madrid, Paris and Vienna and regularly appear on their tours in major cities around the world. They also play at festivals such as the Rheingau Music Festival , the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival , the Lockenhaus Chamber Music Festival and the Montpellier Festival , the festivals in Kuhmo , the Engadine Concert Weeks as well as the Salzburg Festival and the Harzburg Music Days .
The Mandelring Quartet has recorded numerous CDs that have won the German Record Critics' Award several times and have been nominated for the Cannes Classical Award . For example, the recordings of Shostakovich's string quartets as well as the complete recording of Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy's string chamber music received many awards; The trade press was also exclusively positive.
The Mandelring Quartet is the founder and artistic director of the Hambacher Musikfest chamber music festival, which takes place annually in Hambach an der Weinstrasse . The quartet also creates its own concert cycles in the Berlin Philharmonic and in its home town of Neustadt an der Weinstrasse.
