The International String Quartet - Music Competition Premio Paolo Borciani place since 1987 in Reggio Emilia place every three years. It is dedicated to Paolo Borciani , the famous founder and first violinist of the Quartetto Italiano .

The organizer and sponsor of the competition is the Fondazione I Teatri of Reggio nell'Emilia ; the artistic director is Lorenzo Fasolo; The founder was the pianist Guido A. Borciani , brother of Paolo Borciani.

In 1991 she joined the World Federation of International Music Competitions .
