Nikolaus Puchner OCr (Czech Mikuláš Puchner ; * in the Elbogen district ; † 1490 ) was a Grand Master of the Order of the Knights of the Cross with the Red Star in Prague .

Life

Puchner came from the old Bohemian Elbogen district. In 1460 he was appointed against Grand Master Andreas Pesmet, who had been removed from office but recognized by the Apostolic See . As a grand master, he made great contributions to the repatriation of goods that were lost to the Order of the Cross during the Hussite Wars . During his tenure in 1469, the Kulm subjects were exempted from forced labor and granted them further privileges. In addition, he managed to obtain full jurisdiction over the goods of the order from the Bohemian King Vladislav II . Jurisdiction was exercised in the Prague Church of St. Peter on Poříčí . There is still a picture of the sword with a severed hand above the entrance to the church.

For the foundation of the Maria Kulm pilgrimage site , he was able to acquire additional properties in 1480 as well as donations through which the church could be started and the Kulm Kreuzherrengut expanded. He was also involved in the reorganization of the spiritual administration of the countries of the Bohemian Crown .
