Nilüfer Göle
Nilüfer Göle (* 1953 in Ankara ) is a Turkish sociologist who teaches in France.
Life
Nilüfer Göle received his doctorate in 1982 from the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (EHESS) in Paris . From 1986 to 2001 she worked as a university lecturer at the Boğaziçi Üniversitesi in Istanbul , where she completed her habilitation in 1988. Since 2001 she has been Directrice d'études at the EHESS, Center d'Analyse et d'Intervention Sociologiques (CADIS), in Paris. Göle was visiting professor at the University of Michigan , the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and the New School for Social Research in New York City. She also worked at the Rockefeller Study and Conference Center, Bellagio and the Wissenschaftskolleg zu Berlin .
Göle's fields of work are Islamic studies, secularism, art and gender-specific studies.
In 2012 she received an honorary doctorate from the Leuphana University of Lüneburg .
