Nils Kjellström

Nils Georg Kjellström (* 1943 - December 17, 2019 ) was a Swedish musician , record producer , composer , arranger , choir director and temporary publisher .

Life

Nils Kjellström grew up as an only child in a musical family in Sweden. He completed an apprenticeship as a church musician and studied piano, organ, flute and cello at the same time. After he had worked in various ensembles in his home country and later worked as an arranger, unit manager and music producer, he moved to Germany in 1971. Here he worked in the music departments of Christian publishers such as Gerth Medien and Janz Team and eventually became a music advisor at Evangeliums-Rundfunk . Among other things, he founded and directed the first ERF studio choir before it merged into the Jubilate choir .

In 1977 Kjellström founded the record label Blue Rose in Hüttenberg , which mainly sold imported Christian pop music from the USA , but also produced its own records by young German artists such as Arno & Andreas , Jan Vering and Jürgen Werth , before it was bought by Pila Music in 1980 .

As a composer, Nils Kjellström worked with influential authors of Christian texts such as Johannes Jourdan , who also wrote the text for his most successful Christmas carol Das ist der Tag (The great miracle began very small). In the following, Kjellström was also entrusted with commissioned compositions. So in 2006 the musical Vesper Let Praises Sound was created on behalf of EKHN ! In 2009 he composed the gospel and jazz fair Rejoice In His Presence for the third West Saxon gospel project .

Since 1982 Kjellström worked as a freelance musician.
