Nils Olof Holst

Nils Olof Holst (born May 7, 1846 in Jämshög , Olofström municipality ; † 1918 ) was a Swedish geologist, doctor of philosophy and mineralogy.

Life

Holst began his studies at Lund University in 1866 , disputed in 1874 and became a lecturer in mineralogy in Lund a year later. In 1877 he accepted a position as a geologist at Sveriges geologiska undersökning (SGU). Holst has made a name for himself with his quaternary geological research and especially with the discovery of the Alnarptal . Holst was appointed a member of the Royal Physiographical Society in Lund in 1905.
