Nils Plötner

Nils Plötner (born May 7, 1989 in Gera ) is a former German road cyclist .

In 2005 Nils Plötner won the bronze medal in road racing at the European Youth Olympics in Lignano . In the 2007 season he finished second in the junior class in the overall rankings at the Münsterland Tour and at the Napoleon Cup. He also took tenth place at the Trofeo Karlberg and with these results came second in the final ranking of the International German Championship .

In his first year in the adult sector, 2008, Plötner drove for the Thuringian Energy Team . In 2009 he initially drove for FC Rheinland-Pfalz / Saar Mainz and after this team was dissolved, he switched to Heizomat Mapei . For this team, he achieved third place in 2009 in Around Nuremberg Old Town . In 2012 he switched to Team Stölting and, in addition to two stage wins and the overall victory at the Oder Tour, he was also able to finish the 2012 German individual time trial championship in fifth place.

In September 2013, Plötner announced that he would end his cycling career and work in sales for the team sponsor Stölting Service Group. He had reached his limits in cycling. In June 2014 he was officially bid farewell to his club SSV Gera at a circuit race in Gera .
