The Nimrod Ice Stream is a 95 km long ice stream in the Antarctic Ross Dependency . It flows through the polar plateau in a northerly direction and flows into the Nimrod Glacier .
Scientists from the 1961 to 1962 campaign as part of the New Zealand Geological Survey Antarctic Expedition discovered it. They also named it based on the name of the glacier of the same name. Its namesake is the research ship Nimrod , with which the British polar explorer Ernest Shackleton undertook the Nimrod expedition (1907-1909).
