Nine Lashes is an American Christian alternative rock band that was formed in 2006 in Birmingham, Alabama . They independently released their first album, Escape, in 2009 . Through this album they got the attention of Trevor McNevan of the band Thousand Foot Krutch , who introduced them to Tooth & Nail Records . After signing a recording deal, they recorded their second album, World We View , and released it on February 14, 2012. The album sold well and reached several places in the American charts. On January 21, 2014 the band released their third album From Water to War .

Foundation and path to success (2006–2012)
The band was founded in 2006 by guitarist Adam "Tank" Jefferson and drummer Keith Cunningham, who had played together in a band for several years. Jared "Gus" Lnkford and Adam's brother Jon Jefferson joined the band as bassist and guitarist. In 2007, Jeremy Dunn finally joined the band as lead singer after the previous one got married and retired. Cunningham was later replaced by the new drummer Noah Terrel. The album World We View reached the top 20 on the American Billboard charts in 2012 in the Christian music category. The band made their radio debut with their single Anthem of the Lonely from the album World We View . With this single they reached 15.6 million clicks on YouTube. The song is also included as background music in the film Hardflip .
From Water to War (since 2013)
The band announced on August 9, 2013 that they would be on the "From Water" tour to support their latest album, From Water to War , which was released on January 21, 2014. On October 29, 2013 they released their single Break the World shortly after the release of the single Surrender . Both tracks are included in the album From Water to War .
