The Nippon Series 2012 , officially Konami Nippon Series 2012 ( Japanese コ ナ ミ 日本 シ リ ー ズ 2012 , Konami Nippon shirīzu nisenjūni ), is the 63rd edition of the annual championship finals in Japanese professional baseball . The best-of-seven series begins on October 27, 2012; the seventh game would take place on November 4th. The Central League representative has home rights in the first two games and, if applicable, from the sixth game in 2012 .

Regular season result and playoffs

In the Central League, the record champions Yomiuri Giants were able to complete the regular season as first place for the first time since 2009, the two other playoff places secured the Chūnichi Dragons and the Tōkyō Yakult Swallows . In the Pacific League , the Hokkaidō Nippon Ham Fighters prevailed just ahead of the Saitama Seibu Lions as league winners, the third playoff place was secured by the 2011 defending champion, the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks . The same teams as in the previous year are competing in the Climax Series in both leagues.

Climax Series

The playoffs began in 2012 in both leagues simultaneously on October 13th with the first stage of the Climax Series in the Nagoya Dome and the Seibu Dome . In both leagues, the series ran over three games: Chūnichi defeated Yakult with 6-1, 0-1, 1-4, and the Pacific League third and last year's champions SoftBank sat with 2-1, 0-8, 3-2 against Seibu.

The final stage of the Climax Series began on October 17th in the Tokyo Dome and the Sapporo Dome . In the Pacific League, Nippon Ham won against SoftBank smoothly in three games (3–2, 3–0, 4–2). In the Central League, the series runs over a full six games: Chūnichi won the first three games in a row, but lost the following two encounters to the Giants.
