Naumburg (Saale) main station is in Saxony-Anhalt and is in station category 3. The most important station in the Burgenland district belongs to the Central German Transport Association .
history
The station was opened in 1846 with the Thuringian Railway . On October 1st, 1889, the Unstrutbahn was connected here. This line established the connection to the Sangerhausen – Erfurt railway line . On June 28, 1900, the Naumburg – Teuchern railway followed , making the connection to the Weißenfels – Zeitz railway .
On December 2, 1943 there was a serious railway accident . After disregarding a signal showing "Stop", the SFR 33 hit the SFR 360 when the Indusi was switched off . 35 people died and 123 were injured.
From May 1941, the section between Camburg - Weißenfels - Großkorbetha including the Naumburg main station was electrically accessible. In 1946 the overhead line was switched off and dismantled as part of the reparation payments to the Soviet Union. In 1967 the re-electrification of the route from Weißenfels to Camburg was completed.
In 2013, modernization work began on the station. Platforms four and five have been renewed. The new construction of the elevators on all tracks is expected to be completed in 2016/17. The first construction work for this took place in September 2015. A total of 3.5 million euros are to be invested.
Platform tracks
There are a total of three platforms with five track edges. The main platform on track 1 and the central platform on tracks 2 and 3 are 76 cm high and over 370 m long. They are used by long-distance traffic and local trains in the Saale Valley. The second central platform for the Unstrutbahn on tracks 4 and 5, on the other hand, has a 55 cm high edge and is 155 m long. Step-free boarding from the platform to the vehicle is currently only possible on the Unstrutbahn.

vehicles
The ICE trains run as partially two-part trains made up of ICE-T vehicles . Class 101 and 120 locomotives with IC wagons are used on the IC trains . In regional traffic, locomotives of the 182 series with y-wagons (also known as "Halberstädter") and sets consisting of locomotives of the 143 series with double-decker trains of the DABbuzf (a) 778 and DBuz series were used until December 12, 2015 . Since December 13, 2015 mainly operate electric trains of the type BOMBARDIER TALENT 2 , except for the Unstrut train , where diesel multiple units of the series 1648 are used, as well as the regional express line 18 where it locomotives of the series 146 with double-deck coaches are.
Due to the Stadler KISS car set taken over from the Westbahn on the new IC line between Dresden and Rostock, there is a nightly transfer from the plant in Vienna to the said route. Because of this journey, Naumburg train station has benefited from another intercity stop since March 2020.
