Nitro was an American metal band from Hollywood California formed in 1987 by Jim Gillette , Michael Angelo Batio and TJ Racer.

history

The glam rock band Nitro came into being after the completion of a solo project by the singer Jim Gillette, who recorded his first solo album Proud to Be Loud together with the later founding members Michael Angelo Batio, TJ Racer and the drummer Bobby Rock . As a result of a concert at which, according to his own reports, Gillette had broken three wine glasses with just his voice, Nitro received a recording contract with Rampage Records, a sub-label of Rhino Records , and released their first LP OFR (Out Fucking Rageous) there in 1989 . When the recordings were finished, Rock left the group and was replaced by KC Comet. In 1991, after replacing Racer and Comet with Ralph Carter and Johnny Donner, Nitro released their second album, Nitro II: HWDWS (Hot, Wet, Drippin 'with Sweat) . Two years later, the band split up in 1993.

In December 2016 the band announced their reunion. Members include Jim Gilette, Michael Angelo Batio and, as drummer, Chris Adler from the band Lamb of God .

reception

The reception of Nitro in the media focused mainly on Gillette, because of his eye-catching voice acrobatics, and on Batio, with his fast guitar playing on the "double ax guitar" he created.
