The Niudu Hu ( Chinese 牛肚 湖 , Pinyin Niúdù Hú - " Rumen Lake ") is a lake on the Stansbury Peninsula in the north of Nelson Island , one of the South Shetland Islands . In the east it has a tributary from Lake Qing Hu located 200 meters southeast and is drained in the west via the Xianshui Xi brook into a small bay called Cèhuìxuézhě Wān ( Chinese 测绘 学者 湾 - " Cartographer's Bay " ⊙ ) on the west side of the peninsula.
Chinese scientists named it in 1986 after its resemblance to the outline of a bovine forestomach .
