Marcel Langer (born February 16, 1997 in Stadthagen ) is a German soccer player who was most recently under contract with Heart of Midlothian in Scotland.

Career

Marcel Langer was born in Stadthagen, Lower Saxony, about 40 km west of Hanover . He began his career in the immediate vicinity of his hometown at SV Victoria Lauenau, for which he played until 2009. From 2009 he was active for Hannover 96 for the next seven years . Between 2012 and 2014 he played for the Hanoverians in the B-Junior Bundesliga , and from 2014 to 2016 in the A-Junior Bundesliga . The greatest success with the A-youth in the 2014/15 season was the runner-up in the North / Northeast relay. In his last year as a junior player, he won the DFB Junior Club Cup with Hannover 2016 in the final against Hertha BSC . In October 2016 he made his debut in the second team of Hanover in the Regionalliga Nord against 1. FC Germania Egestorf / Langreder . In two seasons he completed 40 games.

In July 2018, Langer moved to the Oberliga Westfalen to represent FC Schalke . In the 2018/19 season , he was promoted to the Regionalliga West as champions .

In January 2020 Langer moved to Heart of Midlothian in Scotland . With the club from Edinburgh he signed a contract for six months. He was trained by his former youth coach from Hanover Daniel Stendel . Langer made his debut for Hearts on February 5, 2020 in the Scottish Premiership against FC Kilmarnock at Tynecastle Park . In his second league appearance against Celtic Glasgow on February 12, 2020, he saw the red card in the 86th minute of the game. The game was lost 5-0. After that he was not considered in any further game. His contract was terminated in June 2020.
