Njombe is a city in southern Tanzania . It is the regional capital of the Njombe region and the district headquarters of the Njombe Rural District and the Njombe Urban District. It is almost 2000 meters above sea level on the eastern edge of the Kipengere Range and therefore has a cooler climate.

The paved road T6 from Makambako to Songea runs through the city. The closest station on the TAZARA Railway - from Dar es Salaam to Lusaka - is in the city of Makambako.
