No Connection is an English rock band that in 1997 in Reading was founded. It stands in the tradition of AC / DC , Aerosmith , Public Enemy and various other bands. Their music is characterized by mostly powerful guitar melodies and singing that is sometimes reminiscent of rap .
history
The band was formed in May 1997 by Graham Young, Simon "Steele" Whenlock and Jon Hill, who are still members of the band to this day. They wanted to combine the numerous, very different influences from different rock genres with socially critical texts. Initial success at concerts in the Reading area led to the recording of the first album Justified and its release on MP3.com on January 1, 2000.
The band gained international fame in 2000 when a Californian radio station added the group to its program and they stayed at number one on the station's internal charts for over a month. A year later he performed in Los Angeles in January 2001.
Since then, the band has been touring mainly in the UK and USA, where they are often played on different channels.
Trivia
- The band name supposedly came about because the three friends got upset about the poor wireless network in their hometown.
- The two songs Ain't Foolin and Love for Free were number 1 on the "Classic Rock" charts on the MP3.com website, where they were also "Artist of the Day"
