criticism

Critical ratings of the album were mostly negative. In particular, the lack of depth of the album was criticized:

“This dance-pop-Schmufu roars out of the speakers terribly boring, only the meaningless lyrics undercut the complete lack of any musical substance. [...] Doodling sounds, flat production and always the feeling of having a demo hastily cobbled together in a few days make for eleven extremely boring, uninspired and hardly recognizable tracks. The term "Song" on No Sleep deserves at most the Grammy-winning Schnulze I Swear , which rounds off the album as a big special. "

- Josef Gasteiger : Laut.de

In addition, some experts expressed doubts that the album could be the basis for a long band existence, as all songs were produced in a very short time:

No Sleep moves retrospectively through the history of the chart pop with occasional detours in Eurodance. Even the first single No Time For Sleeping is a seemingly foolish dance hit, which with its simple melody and highly pitched synthesizers is easy to catch. Songs like Keep On , Hurtful or the special track I Swear show enough that LaViVe can also sing ballads. Most of the time it's on No Sleep but with driving beats on the dance floor. We'll see now whether that's enough to become "Girls Forever" and to outlast the average half-life of a casting band. At least as long as our attention lasts. "

- Christopher Polusik : T-Online

No Sleep , LaVive's debut, will most likely be the four girls' last album. Because LaVive also have to suffer from the eternal pop star crux: an album has to be in stores as soon as the week after winning the show. It is in the nature of things that the songs that land on the respective debut albums are well-produced, but offer pop that is as versatile as possible and therefore somewhat faceless. [...] So No Sleep mainly features dance floor pop, which hardly differs from mediocre Sarah Connor songs. The use of an accordion ( How Deep Is Your Love - no Take That or Bee Gees cover) or a song that breathes a bit of retro soul ( Hurtful ) is almost positively noticed . "
