Noha Rushdi

Noha Rushdi ( Arabic نهى رشدى صالح الأستاذ Nuhā Ruschdī Sālih al-Ustādh , DMG Nuhā Rušdī Ṣāliḥ al-Ustāḏ ; *  September 5, 1981 in Tripoli ) is an Egyptian documentary filmmaker .

Noha Rushdi was born in Libya to a Palestinian father and an Egyptian mother. She has lived in Egypt since she was four. She also studied law at times .

Noha Rushdi became known when she filed a criminal complaint in June 2008 for sexual harassment by a motorist in the Cairo district of Heliopolis , whereupon the North Cairo court of first instance issued a three-year prison sentence with heavy labor and compensation in October 2008 for sexual assault Amount of 5001, - EGP (converted 700, - EUR) was convicted.

The case was picked up in the 2010 Egyptian feature film Cairo 678 . The judgment, together with the increasing sexual violence against women in Egypt since the revolution of 2011, can be seen as a trailblazer for Presidential Decree 50/2014, with which President Adli Mansur supplemented Egyptian sexual law.
