Coordinates: 46 ° 52 '44 "  N , 23 ° 46' 56"  O The Nokia plant Cluj was a factory for the manufacture of mobile phones by Nokia in Romania . It was located in an industrial park in Jucu , Cluj County , and was about 80 hectares in size.

history

The plant was built in 2007 as a result of production relocations and public subsidies. The general contractor was the German company Goldbeck from Bielefeld. In February 2008, the production of devices for the European market began in Jucu, while the Nokia factory in Bochum with 2300 employees was closed on June 30, 2008.

Due to the relocation of production for the Asian market, the closure of the plant in Cluj was announced in September 2011. In particular, a production facility in Vietnam was discussed .

The plant employed 2,200 people. The Romanian state and the regional administration wanted to reclaim part of the subsidy of 20 million euros . Since Nokia owed US $ 10 million in taxes to the Romanian state, the factory was confiscated in November 2011 to prevent Nokia from selling the factory premises and machines. In December 2011 Nokia paid the tax debt.

sale

In January 2012, the Italian home appliance manufacturer De'Longhi bought the plant and its 2.8 hectare site at an undisclosed price.
