from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Nolwen [ nɔlvɛn ] is a French singer born in Paris . As a child she learned to play the piano and spent the holidays in Brittany . She later studied musicology. At university she met the composer Christophe Houssin, with whom she worked from then on, and Sophie Gascon joined them as a lyricist.

Nolwen took part in the "song workshop" Rencontres d ' Astaffort and the Chantier des Franco in La Rochelle , which Francis Cabrel set up . Many of her songs are influenced by Breton folk music. Between 1998 and 2012 she released five albums.

Her first album Calimérose with five songs was released by Nolwen in 1998. When a singer by the name of Nolwenn appeared in the casting show Star Academy in the summer of 2002 and was crowned the winner in December, Nolwen drew attention to the identity of the names and even offered to under another name to work. Instead, Nolwenn added her mother's last name to her name and has been called Nolwenn Leroy ever since . Their first album, which was initially delivered with the title Nolwenn , was subsequently renamed Nolwenn Leroy for this reason .

Nolwen sings the song Croix de bois croix de fer on her album Océane in a duet with Berthet , who also appears as a composer on her album Légend Urbaines .

Nolwen has a daughter who was born in 2002. Like Nolwenn Leroy, she took singing lessons from Armande Altaï and is under contract with Universal Publishing .
