Nomada bifasciata is a bee from the family of Apidae . The species lookssimilar to Nomada fucata .

features

The bees have a body length of 10 to 12 millimeters (females) or 8 to 11 millimeters (males). The head and thorax of the females are black, the former is red and the latter is yellow. The tergites are basal red, the disk on the first is red, on the second red with yellow spots and on the third to sixth yellow. The rear edges are partly darkened. The sternites are red, as is the labrum , which is bulging at the front edge . The third antennae is shorter than the fourth. The label ( scutellum ) has a yellow spot. The rails ( tibia ) of the hind legs have a blunt tooth at the end and two closely spaced, curved thorns. In southern Europe, the females only have red and black colored tergites. The head and thorax of the males are also black. However, both have yellow markings. The tergites are basal black, the disc is red on the first, yellow on the second to seventh, the end margins are red. The third antenna element is shorter than the fourth, the following ones are knotted at the end on the back. The flagellum is red-yellow above, the sixth to ninth antennae segments are black. The label also has a small yellow spot. The sternites are spotted red and partly yellow. The thigh ring ( trochanter ) and thigh ( femora ) on the hind legs are covered with dense yellow hair at the base. The splints on the hind legs have a blunt tooth at the end and two thorns that are not together.

Occurrence and way of life

The species is common in southern and central Europe. The animals fly from late March to late June. The species parasitizes Andrena gravida .
