Nomada chrysopyga is a bee from the family of Apidae .

features

The bees are 12 to 13 millimeters long. The head and thorax of the females are red, or partially yellow with black markings. The tergites are red and often spotted yellow, basal and partially darkened at the end margins. The face and labrum are often spotted with yellowish reddish spots. The third antenna segment is the same length as the fourth and twice as long as it is wide. The scutellum is yellow or red with weak bumps. The rails ( tibia ) of the hind legs are quite blunt at the end, have a tooth and about six short, thick, reddish small thorns. The males are black with yellow spots, some of which are outlined in red. The rear margins of the tergites are red, the labrum is yellow. The third antennae is shorter than the fourth. The slightly humped label is reddish-yellow. The thighs ( femora ) of the hind legs have short hairs below. The rails of the hind legs are slightly pointed at the end and have about six yellow-red small thorns.

Occurrence and way of life

The species is common in southern Europe and Hungary. The animals fly from early June to early August. The species parasitizes Andrena fuscosa .
