Nomada distinguenda is a bee from the family of Apidae .

features

The bees have a body length of 5 to 6 millimeters (females) or 5 millimeters (males). The head and thorax of the females are black and have red markings. The tergites are red, darkly banded and often very dark. The labrum is red and has three teeth. The third antennae is much longer than the fourth. The scutellum is more or less spotted with red. The rails ( tibia ) of the hind legs are drawn out to a point at the end, have bristle hair and three to four thick, small thorns. The males have a black head and thorax with little yellow-red markings. The tergites are mottled yellow, the labrum is yellow. The third antennae is much longer than the fourth. The label is black. The thighs ( femora ) of the hind legs are provided with a hair fringe at the bottom. The rails of the hind legs have bristle hair and three or four small thorns.

Occurrence and way of life

The species is widespread in north-west Africa, southern and central Europe. They mainly populate gravel pits. The animals fly in two generations from early April to early October. The species parasitizes Lasioglossum villosulum and probably other small species of the genus Lasioglossum , such as Lasioglossum parvulum
