Nomada ferruginata is a bee from the family of Apidae .

features

The bees have a body length of 8 to 10 millimeters. The head and thorax are black and red in the females. The callis are yellow, the tergites are red and in some individuals partially spotted yellow. The labrum is red and has small teeth. The third antennae is shorter than the fourth. The red spotted label ( scutellum ) has weakly developed cusps. The rails ( tibia ) of the hind legs have several pointed, red, small thorns at the end. In the males, the thorax and the first tergite are basal black. The head and the calli are drawn in yellow. The tergites are otherwise red with yellow spots, the labrum is yellow. The third antennae is shorter than the fourth. The slightly humped label is black. The thighs ( femora ) of the hind legs are long and hairy. There are pale, pointed, small thorns on the rear rails at the end.

Occurrence and way of life

The species is distributed in southern, central and northern Europe. The animals fly from early March to mid-May. The species parasitizes Andrena praecox .
