Nomada piccioliana is a bee from the family of Apidae .
features
The bees are 7 to 9 millimeters long. The head and thorax of the females are black and drawn in red. The tergites are red and have yellow spots and are partially black at the base. The labrum is red and has small teeth. The third antenna segment is as long as or slightly shorter than the fourth. The scutellum is red and slightly humped. The rails ( tibia ) of the hind legs are blunt at the end and have three to five short, thick thorns. The head and thorax of the males are black and have yellow markings. The tergites are basal and partly black on the disc, otherwise red with large yellow spots. The labrum is yellow. The third antenna segment is significantly shorter than the fourth. The label is black. The thighs ( femora ) of the middle and rear legs are noticeably short hairy below. The rails of the hind legs are blunt at the end and have two or three thick, short thorns.
Occurrence and way of life
The species is widespread in southern and occasionally in central Europe. The animals fly from mid-May to late July. They parasitize Andrena combinata .
