Non dua

Non Dua ( Thai : โนน เดื่อ - Non Duea ) is an archaeological site in the Roi Et province .

Location and excavation history

Non Dua is located in Amphoe Suwannaphum , Province of Roi Et, in Isan (Northeast Thailand). Non Dua is located in the lower valley of the Mae Nam Chi River , which is an important west-east connection between the Mae Nam Chao Phraya and the Mekong .

Charles Higham and Hamilton Parker explored the site for the first time between 1969 and 1970 . Two decades later, John Parry made satellite images of the area, which also provided information about the settlement history.

Finds

A place surrounded by a ditch was found that had existed during the first millennium BC. Was settled and lived from salt production and trade. The satellite images from Parry show channels from the Lam Siao Yao and prove an efficient regulation of the water flow in the area of ​​the Chi.
