Nora Schütz Minorovics

Nora Schütz Minorovics (born February 16, 1934 in Timișoara , Kingdom of Romania ) is a German painter and graphic artist.

Life

After graduating from high school in 1952, Nora Schütz Minorovics studied mathematics and physics from 1952 to 1954 at the Babeș-Bolyai University in Cluj . From 1955 to 1961 she studied painting, graphics, photography and film in Bucharest with Wilfried Ott. In 1962 she became a member of the Association of Fine Artists of Romania. From 1962 to 1967 she taught photo, film and art history in Eisenmarkt , Romania. In 1982 she moved to the Federal Republic of Germany. Since 1984 she has been a member of the Kunstverein Gundelfingen , Germany. From 1985 she repeatedly traveled to the USA (Arizona), France (Provence) and Spain for study purposes.

At the beginning of her career she mostly created impressionistic inspired landscapes using the oil spatula technique, later symbolic graphics. Then she created black and white ink pictures on large-format Japanese paper (initially symbolic, later abstract features).

Constant experimentation, the search for new forms of expression and individual solutions is characteristic of Nora Schütz Minorovics. For example the 3-dimensional cycles that have been projected as happenings with a musical background and in motion since the early 1960s . The city of Herbolzheim , where she lives and works, honored Nora Schütz Minorovics in 2008 for her life's work with the “Nora Hall” in the historic gatehouse, named after her. Her pictures can be seen here in permanent changing exhibitions.
