Norbert Boretzky

Norbert Boretzky (born January 10, 1935 in Breslau ) is a German linguist.

After graduating from high school in Halle, he first studied biology in Halle-Wittenberg from 1953 to 1957 and Slavic studies, comparative linguistics and zoology in Bonn from 1957 to 1962. In 1962 he was with the work of the tenses in Kurbskijs "Istorija velikago knjazja Moskovskogo" Dr. pil. PhD. In 1970 he completed his habilitation with Karl Horst Schmidt .

1963-1967 he was an assistant at the Slavonic Seminar at the University of Tübingen , from 1967 assistant at the Linguistic Institute of the Ruhr University Bochum . After his habilitation in 1970 he worked as a private lecturer, adjunct professor and then as professor for comparative linguistics in Bochum. His focus is on researching Romani dialects, historical linguistics, interference linguistics, creole studies (Slavic languages, Balkan languages, creole languages).
