Norbert Cobabus

Norbert Cobabus (* 1944 in Timmendorfer Strand ; † November 26, 2013 in Rödermark ) was a German librarian , private scholar and political activist who published numerous works on censorship in the Federal Republic of Germany , on trade unions and on numerous humanities and political topics. Cobabus was temporarily a member of the management team of the German section of the Fourth International .

Life

Norbert Cobabus initially studied medicine at the request of his parents, but dropped out after completing the Physikum and attended the University of Applied Sciences for Libraries in Cologne from 1969 to 1972, where he graduated as a qualified librarian. From 1975 until his retirement in 2009 he worked at the German National Library in Frankfurt (Main) , where he was also chairman of the staff council. A collection of materials on the subject of censorship in Germany and in libraries is available at the Amsterdam International Institute for Social History . He also worked extensively as a local researcher in his last place of residence, Rödermark .
