Norbert Jers

Norbert Jers (* 1947 in Aachen ) is a musicologist .

Life

Norbert Jers completed practical music training in piano and choral conducting. He then studied musicology, education and archeology at the University of Cologne . He gained his first professional experience at WDR and the Arno Volk Verlag Cologne. In addition, he worked as a freelancer in high schools, at the adult education center as well as in the record industry and church choir management. From 1980 to 1983 Norbert Jers was a lecturer at the Episcopal Academy of the Diocese of Aachen . This was followed by a professorship for music education at the Catholic University of Applied Sciences in North Rhine-Westphalia . From 1989 to 1993 he was department head and dean at the Catholic University for Church Music St. Gregorius in Aachen . From 2000 to 2007 he was teaching musicology at the same university.

Norbert Jers' musicological treatises give the reader a comprehensive insight into the musical history of the Rhineland.
