Norbert Kampe

Norbert Kampe (born December 27, 1948 in Berlin ) is a German historian and memorial director.

Life

After graduating from high school in 1969, Kampe studied history , German , political science and educational science at the Free University of Berlin . He passed the first and second state exams for teaching at grammar schools in German and history; from 1978 to 1980 he worked as a trainee lawyer in the Berlin school service. From 1980 to 1982 he received a scholarship and was in 1983 with a thesis on students and "Jewish question" in the German Empire doctorate ; He then worked until 1988 as a research assistant at the Center for Research on Antisemitism at the TU Berlin .

From 1990 to 1996 he worked as a research assistant in the archive of the Berlin Academy of the Arts , where he was in charge of the EDP indexing of the archive holdings and the approximately 3,000 files of the Prussian Academy of the Arts . In 1993 he became the deputy director of the archive and then took over the management of the historical administrative archive . From August 1996 to April 2014 he was director of the House of the Wannsee Conference Memorial and Education Center .

One focus of his work is anti-Semitism in the academic field, including the history of Jewish students and academics.
