Norbert Mateusz Kuźnik

Norbert Mateusz Kuźnik (born January 8, 1946 in Rybnik , † April 15, 2006 in Rybnik ) was a Polish composer, music theorist, organist and organ builder.

Kuźnik studied music theory at the Warsaw State Music Academy from 1965 to 1970 and composition in the class of Andrzej Dobrowolski from 1970 to 1974 . He completed his training during stays at the Institute for Sonology in Utrecht in 1975 as a scholarship holder of the Gaudeamus Foundation , at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna 1981–82 as a student of Roman Haubenstock-Ramati and at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam in 1985 as a scholarship from the Dutch government . As a specialist in organ building and maintenance, he was a student of his father Ludwik Kuźnik .

He taught from 1974 to 1977 at the Institute for Music Education at the Pedagogical University in Olsztyn and from 1977 to 1982 in Kielce. As a concert organist, he performed mainly with works by contemporary composers, including his own. Under the pseudonym Mateusz Rybnik , he wrote the textbooks Vademecum instrumentacji (1980) and Gramy na organach (1985). In 1974 he was named an Honored Cultural Activist.
