Life
Randow studied Slavic Studies in Berlin until 1953, then in Sofia for three years . He later worked as an assistant for Bulgarian literature at the Humboldt University in Berlin . However, he was in 1962 for allegedly "seditious propaganda" and aid for so-called " flight from the republic detained" for three years - he had among others the novel Doctor Zhivago by Boris Pasternak passed. This ended his scientific career.
After the end of his imprisonment, he mainly turned to translations from Bulgarian. From 1978 onwards he visited Bulgaria almost annually for studies and translations. This was made possible by a grant from the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences .
