Norbert Valis

Norbert Valis (born May 19, 1971 in Lucerne ) is a former Swiss basketball player .

career

Valis first played basketball with TV Reussbühl and went to the United States in 1988 , where he played at Hampton High School in Pittsburgh (state of Pennsylvania ) until 1990 and then studied and played basketball at Princeton University from 1990 to 1994 . During this time he played 41 games for the Princeton University team and scored an average of 1.6 points per encounter.

In 1994, the 2.01 meter wide winger returned to his home country, played to 1996 Pallacanestro Bellinzona from 1996 to 1998 Momo Basket / SAV Vacallo , in the game in 1998/99 at Friborg Olympic from 1999 to 2001, the Lugano Tigers and in the 2001/02 season again in Friborg. In 1995 he became Swiss champion with Bellinzona, 1999 with Friborg and 2000 and 2001 with Lugano.

In the 2002/03 season Valis was under contract with the French second division team St. Quentin, in the 2003/04 season he also strengthened the first division team STB Le Havre in France . He had to end his career due to intervertebral disc problems.

After his playing career, Valis was initially on the board of TV Reussbühl, then as Vice President and Head of Sports for the Swiss Central club in his hometown of Lucerne. His main occupation was an auditor.

National team

Valis was a Swiss national player for many years and took part with the selection team in the elimination rounds for European championships.
