Norbert Wesseler

Norbert Wesseler (* 1959 in Vreden ) is a German administrative lawyer and police chief of Düsseldorf . In February 2014, he succeeded Herbert Schenkelberg .

Life

After studying law in Münster , Speyer and Dublin , he joined the Düsseldorf district government in 1989 . After moving to the Ministry of the Interior in North Rhine-Westphalia in 1992, he worked there in various positions before he became Police President of Dortmund in January 2012. In February 2014, he moved to Düsseldorf as police chief.

In his hometown of Vreden he ran several times - but unsuccessfully - as a candidate for mayor for the SPD . In the SPD sub-district Borken he is chairman of the arbitration commission.
