North German dance theater

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Norddeutsche Tanztheater eV is a non-profit association that carries out artistic projects in Germany and abroad. It was founded by the actress and director Rotraut de Neve and the dancer and choreographer Heidrun Vielhauer in 1991 in Hamburg.

The special focus of the North German dance theater is the combination of dance and drama as elementary means of expression for people. The longstanding occupation with these opposing disciplines offers the participants of the seminars and further training courses a teaching program that conveys its own aesthetic in the combination of dance and language. The NTT projects connect people of different ages and cultural backgrounds as well as professionals and laypeople.

history

The actress and director Rotraut de Neve and the dancer and choreographer Heidrun Vielhauer have been working on joint projects since 1983. Together they directed the Bremen dance theater with 18 dancers and actors. The critics certified that the artist duo had given new impulses to dance theater according to Pina Bausch through the special combination of dance and language. Her pieces have been shown on tours at home and abroad and at national and international festivals, often at the invitation of the Goethe Institute.

In 1982 the two artists met for the first time on the occasion of a guest performance by Tanzfabrik Berlin in Hamburg and decided to work together. At that time Rotraut de Neve was one of the protagonists at the Hamburger Schauspielhaus under the direction of Niels-Peter Rudolph . She wanted more movement, physical presence and choreography in spoken theater. At that time Heidrun Vielhauer was a dancer, choreographer and board member at Tanzfabrik Berlin. She felt drawn to spoken theater and already integrated this element into her choreographies. “The Last Scream” - their first dance theater piece - premiered at the Hamburger Schauspielhaus and attracted national attention. A second followed on the same stage with the title "Two Women", with which they went on a Latin American tour.
