The Nordhäuser news. Südharzer Heimatblätter was the last biannual publication on local history of the city of Nordhausen and the southern Harz . The Nordhausen City Archives had been the publisher since 1992 ; previously the Nordhausen Heimatfreunde association in Hanover was responsible for the series.

The Heimatblätter appeared from 1955 under the name “Heimatblätter for Nordhausen and Grafschaft Hohenstein ” and from 1974 “Südharzer Heimatblätter for 1000 year old Nordhausen, Grafschaft Hohenstein-Ilfeld, Sangerhausen and Goldene Aue ”.

In terms of content, the quarterly series dealt with historical events, stories from home, family news, experience reports, poems, photographs and drawings. Authors up to 1990 were mainly former north houses that had left the GDR . After the death of Heinz Sting (1904–1976), his wife Maria Sting (1912–2014) took over the editorial office. After reunification, the Association of Friends of Homeland was dissolved and the Nordhäuser Nachrichten was published by the Nordhausen City Archives from 1992 onwards. In the 1990s, the Heimatblätter appeared as a quarterly supplement in the Nordhäuser Zeitung and later in the Thüringer Allgemeine .

From 1999/2000 the Nordhäuser Nachrichten could be purchased individually in stores. From 2016 the series appeared every six months. With the 108th title, the Nordhäuser Nachrichten was discontinued in September 2019.
