Overview map

The Nordholz nature reserve is 25.4 hectares in size and is located in the Todtenhausen district of the city of Minden . It is listed with the number MI-065 and is an FFH proposal area .

The nature reserve extends around the former Nordholz estate. The manor's buildings were acquired and restored by the Minden-Lübbecke district in the 1980s . Today they house the Biological Station Minden-Lübbecke eV and a meeting place with conference rooms. The biological station maintains and optimizes the nature reserve.

The area was placed under protection to preserve and restore the animal and plant species typical of the landscape. In particular, on the edge of the Heisterholz forest complex (FFH area) there are small bodies of water, swamps, rudderal grass and shrubbery areas and various small trees.

Many amphibian species have settled in the small bodies of water. The endangered crested newt has a large population here.

Visitors can find out more on a nature trail.
