Above Cape Lewald , the North Cape and the two camp sites
The North Cape is the northern branch of the Gaußberg on the Kaiser Wilhelm II coast of East Antarctica .
The mountain spur was measured and named by the Gauss expedition (1901–1903) under the direction of Erich von Drygalski . On the beach, which stretches between the North Cape and Cape Lewald to the west, two excursions made camp during the 14 months of the tall ship Gauss being stuck in the pack ice .
